Mahadev Betting App Case: Bollywood actor Sahil Khan, known for his role in the movie Style, has applied for anticipatory bail in the Mahadev betting app case. This move comes as he faces scrutiny in connection with the illegal betting platform. Khan, currently in Dubai, plans to return to India to support his father, who is battling cancer. Sahil Khan was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in December 2023 for questioning in connection with this case. Currently, he is facing scrutiny by the Mumbai police and is being sought out for further questioning. However, Khan, who is presently in Dubai, has applied for anticipatory bail as he plans to return to his hometown in India to support his father, who is battling cancer.The Mahadev betting app case has drawn attention with several other actors being booked under various sections of the law.In order to secure anticipatory bail, Khan will need to submit his passport, and he will not face arrest until he appears before the court on the specified date. This legal maneuver provides him with the opportunity to return to India without immediate fear of detention. The Mahadev betting app case has garnered significant attention, with several other actors, including Ranbir Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Hina Khan, Bharti Singh, and Shraddha Kapoor, being booked under various sections of the law. Specifically, they were charged under section 12(a) of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act and sections 66(d) and 66(f) of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

The Mahadev betting scam case has shaken India’s entertainment industry, with Bollywood actors and celebrities being summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning. At the center of the controversy is the Mahadev Gaming app, an online betting platform allowing users to engage in live gambling across various games, including poker, card games, badminton, tennis, football, and cricket. Operating through closed groups on messaging platforms, the enterprise reportedly made an astonishing Rs 200 crore daily.The masterminds behind this illegal operation are Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, who allegedly facilitated online avenues for illegal betting on live games. Chandrakar’s extravagant wedding in the UAE raised eyebrows, leading investigators to uncover alleged hawala operations and connections in the UAE and Pakistan. The ED is investigating at least seven FIRs filed by victims across multiple locations in India, with Chandrakar and his associates accused of laundering funds through shell companies and offshore accounts. The involvement of Bollywood stars in events related to Chandrakar’s company has drawn ED scrutiny, with celebrities like Ranbir Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Kapil Sharma, Boman Irani, and Hina Khan being summoned. Reports suggest that these celebrities may have received substantial sums of cash for their participation, implicating them in the proceeds of the crime. Raids conducted by the ED on premises linked to hawala operators have resulted in significant monetary attachments, highlighting the depth of the money laundering aspect of the case.
