In Doug Liman’s “Road House,” inspired by the 1989 original, action is what it is offering to the audience. Jake Gyllenhaal as Elwood Dalton a protagonist, played the daunting role of haunted ex-UFC fighter, while Jessica Williams impresses as Frankie, the roadhouse owner. Conor McGregor’s debut as Knox adds a thrilling dimension. Despite lacklustre cinematography, the film thrills with expertly choreographed fight scenes and modernized storytelling. Liman’s direction transforms the simple plot into an engaging cinematic experience. While not groundbreaking, “Road House” delivers entertainment, blending action-packed sequences with moments of introspection. Gyllenhaal’s compelling performance alone makes it worth a watch.
