Bilquis Mir from Jammu and Kashmir become a member of the Paris Olympics Jury.

Paris Olympics Jury: India had got new sports achievement, where a woman from J&K named Bilquis Mir became a member of the Paris Olympics Jury which was later confirmed by a letter from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to the J&K administration. In past, Bilquis Mir had served as the coach of the women’s canoeing team that will represent India at the upcoming Games. She was a jury member at the 2023 Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China.

Formation

The Indian Olympic Association traces its origins to the early 20th century, particularly stemming from India’s participation in the 1920 and 1924 Olympics. After the conclusion of the 1920 Games, a committee was convened to oversee India’s involvement in future Olympic events. This committee, under the guidance of Sir Dorab Tata, established the provisional Indian Olympic Committee, with Dr. Noehren and AS Bhagwat appointed as secretary and president, respectively.
