With the introduction of E-Cabinet System in Agartala, Tripura government will become 4th state in India, and the second in the Northeast, to embrace innovation in cabinet and goverence at grassroots level.

E-Cabinet is an advanced software platform designed for state governments to conduct their cabinet meetings electronically and in an online format. Developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), which is under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), it allows government officials to convene, discuss, and make decisions remotely, leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and convenience in governance.

E-Cabinet in Tripura
In its first meeting, the government approved a plan to secure a loan of Rs 160 crore from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). This funding will go towards the tourism and urban development department, supporting infrastructure development and sustainable livelihood initiatives in the state.The E-Cabinet System in Tripura is modeled after a similar system introduced in Uttarakhand. Executives from the National Informatics Centre and the state’s information and cultural affairs department played key roles in launching this system.
This move towards digitization aligns Tripura’s development journey with the national Digital India initiative, aiming to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability in government operations.The E-Cabinet app simplifies the process of uploading cabinet memos, with date and time stamps. Ministers, the chief secretary, secretaries, and other officials can conveniently review and approve documents online, with stringent privacy protection measures in place to ensure data security.
